How does a tuition agency work?

I am sure some of you might ask, “What exactly is a tuition agency?” There are many kinds of tuition service offered in the market. One type of tuition service is home tuition, also known as private tuition. They specialize in providing one-to-one tuition classes and group tuition services, by assisting parents to look for a home tutor for their child and helping tutors look for students.

Most tuition agency provides home tuition service for all academic levels, ranging from preschool to university students, and even for adults too.

How does the process work?

Let’s take one of our clients as an example. Ms Lim has requested for a Primary 5 English tuition, once a week lessons, for 1.5 hours per lesson. When we received Ms Lim’s request, we contacted her to get more information, like her expectations, preferred tutor type, budget, and other preferences. After which, we would start to match and shortlist suitable tutors for her. All these tutor matching services are delivered to parents and students without any charges.

One of the most important responsibility of a tuition agency is to verify the tutor’s credentials. We verify the tutors’ credentials and also review feedback given by previous parents to evaluate the suitability of the tutors before referring them.

Profiles of suitable tutor are sent to her for her to review. No obligations to accept our referrals, if she is not satisfied with the tutors shortlisted. When she has decided to engage one of the tutors sent, we will arrange the schedule of the lessons based on what both parties are able to commit to. Eventually the tuition gets confirmed and both parties will receive each other’s contact information, to prepare for the first lesson.

After 4 weeks, if the lessons have been going well, Ms Lim will split her payment to pay half to the agency, and the other half to the tutor directly. The splitting is only done once in the first month. Thereafter, all fees go to the tutors. If the parent finds that the tutor is not suitable for the child, they can stop the tutor’s service and request for a replacement tutor from the tuition agency.

If you are thinking of looking for a home tutor, do not hesitate to go through the service of a tuition agency. Start Tuition provides you with the best quality service that you need in looking for a home tutor.
