Often, there is a gap between the curriculum at private/International schools or standards in other countries, compared to Singapore's. Hence, we recommend getting home tutors who are very familiar with the syllabus for the intended levels, to assess the child's current level to identify the gaps, bring them up to speed, and get them familiar with the way questions are asked in the local context.
The papers are all set in English. Hence, if the student is lacking in English, that should be the first thing to work on.
They should also be familiar with the syllabus for the level that precedes the one they are trying for. For example, if they are trying to enter Pri 2, the student should be familiar with Pri 1 work.
Depending on how big a gap there is between the child's current standard and the expected level, we recommend at least 3 to 6 months in advance. The more time there is, the stronger a foundation we can build, to prepare the child for the AEIS exams.
